Angela's Story

Angela came to us from the kind-hearted people at Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue. She was found in awful condition, and good people got her the medical care she desperately needed. So many people followed her story through her recovery, and we want to share her happy ending and new beginning.

Unfortunately I recently lost my dad, who was a huge fan of golden retrievers everywhere. Angela was found in a cemetery that very day, and when I read her story of hope and survival it brought me a sense of comfort: my dad was telling me that he was at peace. What began as concern for her welfare led to closely following her progress to inquiring about adoption.

We were able to bring her home yesterday after a bittersweet goodbye at her foster home, where she had been transformed from a scared stray to a happy and playful dog. She slept in the car most of the way and has been exploring the house with tour guide Arthur the Aussie, her new partner in crime. We'll post updates on her progress and photos as she continues to grow in her fur and adjust to her new home. Trips to the beach and other good times are coming.

Thank you, everyone who followed her story and contributed to her care, for bringing her into our lives.

  4. The SCGRR folks are the best! We are very lucky to have Angela in our lives as I know that so many others would have taken her in a heartbeat. I really think that she belongs to everyone who loves her or who needs to remember the power of hope.

  5. I wonder if birds were a tasty dinner from time to time... I am so happy for you both & Angela! Having known Frank & Audrey for several years, they are the most caring & sweet people; Angela is in the best hands, finally!

  6. When I first read Angela's story, I just sat down, held my dogs and cried. My heart was broken. I think I cried for hours. I have watched with hope and awe her recovery. When I read that she had been adopted and would now have her very own family and home, I sat down again and cried, but this time the tears were those of joy. My heart is happy. Bless you for taking this angel into your home and your hearts.

  7. I followed Angela's story as tears rolled down my face. I thought to adopt, her myself, but the timing was not right. So I made a contribution. SCGRR does such wonderful work . I 've been talking to alot of people about adoption. I adopted Sascha my 5 yr. old Golden @ 3 months from the SPCALA, & last week I found another Golden, he is 1.5 yrs of age. I named him Anaya, which means God Answered. He is very sweet, they think he was abused. I told them that I had alot of love to give & so did Sascha. Angelas story is a real inspiration, of what we can do to help. So Anaya is playing, with Sascha, his tail is up & not between his legs & he likes to be held close.
Once again sharing the story of Angela, & her forever home with us is inspirational.
God Bless you all; those willing to share of yourselves to help the weak & helpless creatures that give us uncondional love......
